An easy-listening style gently swings through the eight measure introduction. Unison voices invite all to “Come to the Lord” with voices of praise. Divided parts at measure 21 proclaim Christ the king. Text continues singing of Christ’s glory, majesty, and greatness. The refrain returns at measure 49, moved up from B-flat major to C major, literally duplicating the opening material with the addition of a coda statement.
The piano accompaniment may challenge some players with the two against three rhythms. Syncopation is clearly noted and repetitious. Key signatures are easy. The vocal parts are contained within the accompaniment. Ranges are closely aligned, requiring similar voices even though the parts divide.
Performance options include extracting the opening section, measures 1 to 16, as a brief call to worship. Conclude the accompaniment on the B-flat chord on the “and” of beat 2. The entire anthem may be sung as a gathering anthem, call to worship, or general anthem of praise.
Appropriate days: General worship.
