Is there a difference between being nice and being kind?
Let's be honest, it's easy to be nice. All you have to do is smile. It doesn't even have to be a real smile. It's easy to fake nice. You can look one way on the outside, but feel another way entirely on the inside.
It's really hard to fake kindness. Why? Because kindness is selfless. Kindness is loving. Kindness--genuine kindness--will cost you something. Whether it's time, money, or just your place in line, being kind to others can't be faked.
Being kind mimics Jesus. It reveals that His love for us has transformed us and made us more like Him. To be like Christ is the goal of our faith. So, we should strive to be kind.
Over the next 30 days, dig into to Scripture to see what God's Word has to say about kindness. These devotions will help you understand how your relationship with God empowers you to live selflessly, and how to focus your heart and mind on striving to love others like Jesus loves you.
