The book is intended to be a wake-up call to churches and pastors who year after year are mired in spiritual mediocrity and who seem to be unable to break the spiritual log jam. It seeks to make clear that having a spiritually mature body of elders is the key to steadily moving toward the fullness of God given us in Christ. Nothing less is acceptable for those who wish to live lives worthy of our calling. For instance, any prospective pastor and church should share common ground regarding leadership, stewardship, membership, and fellowship. The book urges elders to insure that the same thing is accomplished with all church members. The book strongly encourages teaching the fullness of Christ to all new members while they are in a prospective members class and that elders should teach these classes.
