Pope John XXIII was a man of peace who lived during two world wars. When he became a priest, he served in many roles but wherever he went he tried to share God's love and bring people together in peace. After many years, he thought he might retire but was elected pope instead. He became known as Good Pope John and continued to share God's love with everyone. He organized a big meeting, known as the Second Vatican Council, to discuss how the church might better connect with people living in the modern world.
