The word "Common" means "one of many, ordinary, usual, undistinguished". There is nothing about the person of Vernon Allen that would differentiate that person from any of hundreds, thousands even millions of his fellowmen. Not a member of the clergy, not a politician or a business leader, not a person of means by any measure, he lived a simple and very humble life by any human standard.
"What amazing things God has accomplished in and through the life of One Common Man." is so much more than just a subtitle. It is in fact the fullest statement of the central message of this book. As the Almighty, God is perfectly within His own right to choose anyone He wants to do His bidding according to His will in His world for His glory. After all is said and done, this grand spectacle of existence is not about you or me or any other creature. It is ALL about HIM He, and Triune He alone, is worthy of all the praise, all the adulation, all the worship of all creation for all time and eternity.
It is God's expressed purpose and privilege to offer His calling to anyone, anyone who will choose to desire it and accept it on His terms. The joys and blessings of doing so are unspeakable, both in this world and in the world soon to come.
Vernon and his wife, Kay, make their home in Concord, North Carolina, just north of Charlotte. They are the parents of two grown children. He is a carpenter and home repair handyman in the greater Metrolina area of North Carolina. He is an active member of his local church, wearing several different "hats" in the pursuit of church life and the Divine purpose for his existence here in the Father's world.
