When we think of treasures, we tend to think of money, jewels, fancy cars and large beautiful homes. These things offer only temporary gratification. They cannot produce everlasting joy and contentment. God wants us to change our way of thinking. He wants us to think on those things that will help us develop love, peace, joy, understanding, compassion, forgiveness, patience, holiness and righteousness. Only the treasures of God will last forever and bring comfort when our worldly treasures fade away. Only the treasures of God can weather the storms that will come in our life. Only the treasures of God will offer encouragement and hope in a time of despair. Only God's treasure has the power to speak peace over a confused situation. Only the treasures of God assure us that weeping may be only for a night but joy will come in the morning. Only the treasures of God enable us to love our enemy. Only the treasures of God can remind us to look to the hills for our help. Only the treasures of God can encourage us to not fret because of evildoers. Only the treasures of God can comfort us as we walk through the valley of the shadow of death. Only the treasure of God, Jesus Christ, ...became flesh and dwelt among us. John 1:14. May the words of your mouth forever proclaim to the Lord: Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. Pss.119:11 Only Jesus Christ offers everlasting life. His Holy Word will keep you from the evil one, the thief who "...cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."
