The two main themes throughout the Bible are restoration and redemption. Both are seen throughout the book of Ruth powerfully. The relationship between Naomi and Ruth has been called one of the greatest love stories in the Bible, and another great love story is between Boaz and Ruth. Naomi and Ruth are left widows in the land of Moab; they travel together back to Naomi's home town of Bethlehem. Once there, Ruth meets Boaz, her kinsman redeemer, that is he is a relative of her deceased husband. Naomi plays the matchmaker, she wanted to find a rest and security that would last a lifetime for Ruth. Boaz redeems Ruth and marries her. They have a son named Obed, who becomes the grandfather of King David.
This Bible Study discusses several themes from the Book of Ruth, including:
- God's sovereignty and control over our lives, even when we make bad decisions.
- The importance of faith and following God.
- The concept of redemption through Jesus Christ.
- The importance of finding our identity in Christ.
- The concept of restoration.
Harold and Penny Have been married for 35 years and in ministry for about 30 years. They have four children together, and homeschooled for most of their schooling. They enjoy ministering together. Harold is an anointed minister of worship, with a heart like King David, he carries the Breaker anointing. He longs to obey Holy Spirit and flows with the Spirit while ushering in the Glory of God. In 2017 after the kids were mostly grown, the Lord called Penny from the background of the life of ministry, where she helped and supported her husband, into a deeper ministry of studying and teaching the Word of God. This call led her to get her BA in Bible and Theology, and is a fully ordained licensed minister. Penny has become a passionately, expressive, fluid, anointed minister of the Word of God, and now mentors and teaches other women. God's Word flows in and through her to transform lives, so others can live and love God to their fullest potential. She has not stopped learning or studying, she has a deep desire to learn more and grow deeper in her relationship with Jesus Christ. In a season of much prayer and fasting, this study was conceived, grown, labored, and birthed by the Lord through her. She gives the Lord full credit, and hopes it blesses you, as much as it did her to write it for the Lord. Matthew Johnson: Staff Media Creator.
