Timothy R. Eberhart

Timothy Eberhart is the Robert and Marilyn Degler McClean Associate Professor of Ecological Theology and Practice at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, where he directs the Center for Ecological Regeneration. He teaches in the areas of theology and ethics, concentrating on the relation of Christian doctrine to ecological, economic, political, and social change theories and practices. Eberhart earned his Ph.D. from the Graduate School at Vanderbilt University, his Master of Divinity degree from the Vanderbilt Divinity School, and his B.A. in Religion from St. Olaf College. His publications include Rooted and Grounded in Love: Holy Communion for the Whole Creation. The Economy of Salvation: Essays in Honor of M. Douglas Meeks, and various chapters on mission, ecclesiology, and ecotheology. He is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church (Dakotas Annual Conference), a trained permaculturalist, UMC Earthkeeper, and North American Co-Chair for the Oxford Institute of Methodist Theological Studies. He, his spouse, Rev. Becky Eberhart, and their daughter, Audrey, live in St. Paul, Minnesota, where they enjoy gardening, hiking, cheering for Minnesota sports teams, and participating in the Creation Collective class at Hennepin Ave. United Methodist Church, and staying in touch with their two sons, Frederick, who works for the Boston Red Sox, and Henry, who is in his first year at UCLA Law School.
